• What It Is: SHEA is excited to announce the launch of our most recent program: Students Mentoring Students (SMS). SMS is a program designed to disseminate upper year students’ guidance, knowledge and experience to 1st and 2nd year students. Upper year students will act as Mentors to foster the academic and professional growth and development of 1st and 2nd year students (Mentees). Mentors and Mentees will be matched based on similar academic programs and goals.

  • Benefits: Mentors and mentees can expect to gain the following from SMS:

    • Leadership skills

    • Networking

    • Communication skills

    • Accountability

    • Sharing knowledge & experiences

  • Requirements: Interactions will be based on the requests of the Mentees. Mentors are required to contact their Mentees bi-weekly (via e-mail, telephone, Facebook, etc), and respond to e-mails within 24-48 hours. Both Mentees and Mentors are expected to complete a brief log sheet outlining interactions with their Mentee/Mentor. Log sheets are to be submitted bi-monthly.
